SAL Heavy Lift Day returns

The fourth SAL Heavy Lift Day will be held at the Steigenberger Hotel in Hamburg on September 18, 2019.

Established in 2016, the annual SAL Heavy Lift Day comprises a range of speakers that discuss topics and issues relating to heavy lift shipping and industrial transport.

This year’s event includes an overview of the multipurpose shipping market and a world fleet outlook from Toepfer Transport’s Hannes Hollander (managing director) and Yorck Niclas Prehm (head of research). Wilhelm Borchert’s Maren Stünkel and Roman Poersch will lead a discussion on the potential effects of IMO 2020 sulphur regulations.

Erik Kravets, a lawyer from Kravets & Kravets, will highlight how counterparty risks are often misunderstood. Leif Arne Strømmen, vice president innovation at G2 Ocean, will take a look at the digital transformation in shipping, focusing on the use of blockchain.

From SAL Engineering, Karsten Behrens, director, will speak about fly-jibs in heavy lift shipping and the challenges of lift stability.

The day will conclude with a dinner cruise on the River Elbe.
