Alistair Group has transported nearly 2,000 tons (1,814.4 tonnes) of steel structures from Durban, South Africa to a mining site in Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

In total, Alistair coordinated 62 truckloads to move the cargoes, seven of which were abnormal loads.

The team had to liaise with the relevant authorities in order to obtain abnormal load permits, while mobile ‘road call’ vehicles were on hand to attend any breakdown to ensure the deliveries remained in accordance with the project schedule.

Alistair’s project scope also included Customs clearance and the management of all route in transit clearances.

“We provided our client with a single point of contact for all transport and logistics requirements and acted as their feet on the ground,” explained Alistair.
