Coordinating with multiple stakeholders, AsstrA provided export Customs clearance at the port of Chittagong.

AsstrA initially quoted some budgetary shipping and transportation figures for the operation back in 2023. Two years on, cargo was loaded at the port of Chittagong during March and arrived in Houston in early June.

The shipment comprised a power generation package, including generators and all ancillary equipment. The cargo, which was transported in 40 individual packages, weighed a combined 642 tonnes and had an overall volume of 3,557 cu m.

A part-charter operation with a fixed laycan period for loading at port of origin, all equipment was transferred from the point of rest in Bangladesh to the port of exit by barge – with four barges required with a one-day transit time. All cargo was then loaded from barge to ship across a 48-hour period.

“The operation and manoeuvres in Chittagong from barge to ship proved challenging but being there to support and assist in the process reduced risks and delays. Furthermore, there were a number of parties involved so the coordination and management time was ultimately essential, and time well spent,” explained Colin Bagwell, team leader of IPL North America division at AsstrA.

HLPFI reported in June 2025 that AsstrA had been on hand for projects in both Asia and Europe.
