Cargo Consolidators Agency has transported three helicopters and three crates of accessories from Trinidad and Tobago to Canada.
With a total weight of 11.1 tonnes (416 cu m), the items were moved from their hangar to the port of Point Lisas, Trinidad and Tobago. The shipment was then shipping to the port of Houston, Texas. From there, it was offloaded onto trucks and transported overland to British Columbia, Canada.
One challenge the movers faced was navigating the local transport through the narrow, traffic-filled streets with the helicopters in convoy to the port.
The operation involved coordination with the shipper and haulage provider for loading and transport at origin, organising police escorts, port authority gate entry and loading on the vessel. The company coordinated with the shipping line to arrange proper loading and lashing below deck. It was also tasked with liaising with Customs authorities for export approval, offloading at destination, re-loading onto inbond transfer trucking, as well as Customs paperwork.
