CF&S Estonia has coordinated the reloading of a metal reactor at Paldiski Southern Harbour.
The original shipment plan involved transporting the 174,500-kg (174.5-tonne) metal reactor to the port of Helsinki, Denmark. However, due to strike action starting in Finland from March 11 – impacting road transport and port terminals – CF&S had to come up with an alternative solution.
At short notice, the team had to secure a docking spot at Paldiski Southern Harbour as well as handle all the necessary paperwork for Customs and permits to facilitate the transfer of the unit, which measured 31 m x 3.87 m x 4.07 m.
Upon arrival at Paldiski, the reactor was discharged from the vessel Koga Ranger onto SPMTs using the ship’s cranes. From there, it was moved onto the barge Partner, securely fastened, and then transported to the port of Porvoo in Finland, with the help of the tug Varma.
