In February and June, CY Interocean II performed two identical voyages for GE Gas and Power. In both voyages, the vessel shipped three massive heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) modules, each weighing about 2,500 tonnes.

CY Interocean II ships huge modules to Japan

The modules were moved from Sungdong shipyard in Tongyeong, South Korea to Chiba in Japan for the LNG-fired Goi thermal power station. The first stages are expected to start commercial operation in 2024, and the project is ultimately expected to have an installed capacity of 2,340 MW.

The HRSG modules were loaded and discharged over the vessel’s stern.

The vessel and a further three deck carriers are commercially operated by BigLift Shipping in partnership with CY Shipping.
