Felbermayr has utilised its Liebherr LR 11000 crawler crane to hoist a 450-tonne generator off a barge in Herne, Germany.
The project was the first job for Felbermayr’s LR 11000, which was transported to the site using 19 low-loaders and 30 curtain-side trailers.
The 1,000-tonne capacity crane then placed the generator onto SPMTs for onward transportation to a gas and steam turbine power plant 2 km away.
The LR 11000 was set up with a 42 m main boom, a derrick boom, 260 tonnes of slewing platform ballast and a suspended ballast pallet. 320 tonnes of suspended ballast was added by an auxiliary crane after the generator had been attached.
