Mammoet has completed its heavy lift and transport scope for the Southwest Calgary Ring Road (SWCRR) project, which began in 2017.

Mammoet was contracted by KGL Contractor Partnership – a joint venture between Kiewit, Graham and Ledcor – to support the construction of 45 bridge structures on the southwest portion of the Canadian ring road.

As part of the project, Mammoet handled more than 1,000 girders using a variety of trailers and cranes, ranging in capacity from 58.9-453.5 tonnes.

The largest girders weighed approximately 156 tonnes and measured up to 197 ft (60 m) in length. The project required 20 of these oversized units.

The southwest portion of the ring road is expected to be open to traffic in 2021.
