Cologne-headquartered MBS Logistics is transporting urgently required relief supplies to Türkiye’s earthquake zone. The first of four trucks organised by MBS arrived in Gaziosmanpaşa near Istanbul on February 28.

The vehicle was loaded primarily with blankets, sleeping bags, fan heaters, radiators and drinking water. The items were donated by MBS’ customer Centershop Korn Vertriebs, a seasonal goods specialist based in Cologne.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit south-eastern Türkiye and Syria early on February 6. A 7.5 magnitude event occurred roughly nine hours later, as well as 200-plus aftershocks. The region is starved of basic necessities.

At the joint warehouse of the Turkish disaster control authority AFAD and the German Red Cross, MBS’ sister company Mentfield Logistics Germany managed distribution to the crisis regions throughout Türkiye through the help of its local branch.

“The destruction and suffering following the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria is staggering,” said Jürgen Steckel, managing director of MBS Logistics. “It is urgently necessary to continue sending relief supplies to the affected regions. Our hearts and thoughts are with the many people mourning the loss of their families, friends and livelihoods.”

In addition to the relief goods donated by Centershop, MBS is organising three other relief shipments for Türkiye in conjunction with Mentfield, for which employees have donated a variety of supplies. “It is really inspiring to see how committed our team is to this relief action. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone involved,” added Steckel.
