The joint venture, BNS Decom, aims to provide a turnkey solution for asset owners. As part of the collaboration, Ballast Nedam will assume responsibility for all offshore operations, while Sif will take charge of receiving and processing decommissioned components for further re-use and recycling.

The joint venture will repurpose the steel from the wind farms, allowing it to be used to manufacture green steel plates for new monopiles in offshore wind projects.

The decommissioning of wind farms is not expected to escalate for a few years, however, Ballast Nedam and Sif believe that they need to prepare for this anticipated market.
