Trans Global Projects (TGP) has transported three 113-tonne transformers, plus accessories, from Brazil to Canada. Separately, the project forwarder has also handled the delivery of wind turbines from China to Vietnam.

TGP Brazil and TGP US cooperated throughout the project.

For the transport of the transformers, the cargo was moved from the manufacturing site in Brazil to the port of Itaguaí, with two units stored on stools and beams and the other remaining on wheels until the vessel’s arrival.

The final delivery point for the transformers was a rail siding in Ontario. Due to severe weather conditions in Canada, disrupting operations at the nation’s ports, TGP customised route through the USA and Canada using temporary transit permits. As a result the transformers were shipped to the port of Newark, USA.

Available railcars were absent when the vessel arrived at Newark, so the cargo was temporarily transferred onto barges until railcars became available. Then, the transformers were loaded, secured, and transported through several US cities – including New Jersey, Allentown, Harrisburg, Conway, Youngstown, and Buffalo – before continuing through Canada via Welland and West Toronto, and arriving at the final location in Utopia, Ontario.

Throughout the project, 57 WTG sets were delivered.

Meanwhile, the wind energy project involved the shipment of 57 wind turbine generator sets including 171 blades and 228 tower sections. In total, approximately 425,000 cu m of cargo was delivered throughout the project. TGP China managed the entire transport chain, from factory to final destination, with each shipment delivered safely and on schedule.

Last month, HLPFI reported that TGP had been on hand for an energy infrastructure project in Azerbaijan.
