Transport on the first night included a rail crossing.

Each of the engines weighed 256 tonnes and measured 12.59 m x 4.73 m x 4.38 m. Each transport convoy totalled 72.06 m x 5.15 m x 4.9 m and had a gross weight of 412 tonnes apiece.

UTC’s scope of work included the evaluation of over 20 route options; assessment of more than 20 bridges; analyses of multiple swept paths; plus, the foundation setting for the engines and their accessories – the latter of which included transporting the engines to engine cells at the business park.

The 25 km journeys were carried out across two nights.

The engines are to be used to power a gas-fired power plant, in line with Ireland’s drive to increase energy production via renewable sources.

In May 2025, HLPFI reported that UTC had battled harsh weather to deliver cargo from across the globe to a biofuel refinery plant in the USA.
