Anchors aweigh for Beluga Projects

November 27 - Beluga Projects Logistic has been contracted to transport and install an anchor system on the Kola Bay seabed in Murmansk, Russia.

The system will include 12 anchor lines, consisting of three anchors with a weight of 50 tons (45.4 tonnes), 200 tons (181.4 tonnes) and 220 tons (199.6 tonnes). In total, 36 anchors will be installed and connected at a maximum water depth of 155 m.

Beluga Projects' scope of work includes collecting the anchors from the production facilities, lifting operations utilising an Enerpac SBL1100 gantry, transporting the cargoes to the ro-ro berth using its self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT), and loading the cargo onto its own barges for sea transportation to Kola Bay.

Upon arrival at Kola Bay, Belgua Projects is responsible for the lowering of the anchors using Enerpac strand jacks, as well as the assembly and installation of the anchor lines on the seabed.

According to Cargo Equipment Experts (CEE), of which Beluga Projects Logistics is a member in Russia, work for the project is well underway and is estimated to be completed in December 2017.
