June 25 - A2SEA's new offshore installation vessel Sea Challenger is now in Esbjerg, making ready to mobilise for its first project - the installation of 35 Siemens 6MW turbines on DONG Energy's Westermost Rough project.

"We are very proud of our new vessel," says Jens Frederik Hansen, ceo at A2SEA. "The vessel is a sister to Sea Installer which has performed very well since her first project in January 2013."

Sea Challenger is equipped with a larger crane that is able to lift 900 tonnes compared to Sea Installer, which has a crane with 800 tonnes capacity. Otherwise the two vessels are virtually identical.

The new ship will start installation on the Westermost Rough project in mid July, with Esbjerg as the loading port and the project team expects installation of the 35 turbines to be completed at the beginning of 2015.

When Westermost Rough is fully commissioned, the wind farm will provide enough electricity to power around 200,000 homes.
