June 21 - Abu Dhabi Ports and the Port of Fujairah, UAE have signed a 35-year concession agreement, granting the former exclusive rights to develop port infrastructure and manage its operations.

As part of the agreement, the entities have announced the establishment of Fujairah Terminals, an operational arm wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Ports.

Through the establishment of Fujairah Terminals, the agreement will grant Abu Dhabi Ports the exclusivity to enhance existing infrastructure in addition to managing all container, general cargo, ro-ro and cruise Ships in the port.

The agreement also includes the deepening of berths to 16.5 m to allow for larger vessels, building a 300,000 sq m yard of storage space as well as an additional 1 km quay to accommodate the expected growth in the number of ships arriving at the port.
