October 8 - Antwerp-based project cargo forwarder Ahlers Forwarding has revealed a range of heavy lift and project cargo activity that the company has undertaken in global markets; so far this year.

Included in these projects, Ahlers Hong Kong successfully handled the shipment of a motor yacht from Shanghai to Antwerp on a Chipolbrok ship. The project team in Antwerp secured a smooth hand over of the brand new yacht to the buyer who sailed the yacht out of the port of Antwerp to the final destination in UK waters.

The Ahlers Antwerp forwarding department arranged the transport of a heavy transformer of 321 tonnes, together with accessories totalling 920 cu m and weighing 418 tonnes. The road journey from the factory to the inland river port was performed using a special hydraulic truck, and the onward movement to the port of Antwerp port was undertaken by barge. The shipment left Antwerp on its journey to Jeddah onboard Chipolbrok's Leopold Staff.

For a client involved in the oil and gas business, Ahlers handled a shipment of out-of-gauge cargo from Antwerp, via Klaipeda to Aktau, Kazakhstan. The cargo originated from Houston. It was not especially heavy but had a wide variety of dimensions with which to contend.

Meanwhile, the door-to-door shipment of factory components ex-site in UK and France to a factory site in Merak, Indonesia is being undertaken. Two items in the consignment are 23 m and 27 m long, respectively.
