Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) has confirmed that three of its Airlander 10 aircraft have been reserved by a defence customer.
The Airlander 10 is an airship with a modular design capable of transporting more than 100 passengers or a 10-tonne payload. It has been designed and initially certified for civil use, but its adaptable nature means it can be modified to meet customer requirements. This latest reservation marks the first order from a defence-sector client.
“Whether equipped with multispectral sensor suites for ISR roles, configured to transport personnel, materiel and equipment to austere environments, or to hold, release and recover drone swarms, Airlander offers new possibilities in defence,” said the company.
