March 4 - Italy's Aliani Project has transported a transformer for the Terna power plant in Rosara on behalf of the Getra company, using a Nicolas MDED platform trailer and 230-tonne capacity Nicolas side girder deck combination.
The Nicolas MDED has a 34-tonne axle load and a low platform height of 0.75 m, which meant that a low overall height was maintained throughout transport.
The transformer, which had the dimensions 10.5 m x 3.9 m x 4.5 m, was transported along the Marcianise-Rosara route through the Italian Apennine mountains, which features 350 km of steep gradients, tight corners and difficult road conditions.
Nicolas, along with Scheuerle and Kamag, is a member of the Transport Industry International (TII) Group.
