June 24 - Allseas Global Logistics has established a new partnership with Pakistan's Raaziq International that will help to maintain two critical supply chain corridors into and out of Afghanistan as the country rebuilds after years of conflict.

The MOU will see the two organisations focus on the long-term survival of two routes established and maintained by Raaziq over the past ten years on behalf of the ISAF forces: the northern route via the Khyber Pass into Kabul, an eight-day truck drive; and the three-day route into the southern parts of Afghanistan.

The routes were initially established to facilitate the transportation of supplies from Port Qasim in Karachi to military bases in Afghanistan. Raaziq also owns and operates 13 staging stations located strategically along the routes.

Raaziq's services also include arranging and escorting truck convoys along these transport corridors. It owns a large fleet of vehicles and trucks, some of which are purely Afghanistan-registered and operated, therefore avoiding the restrictions on Pakistan-registered vehicles crossing the border into Afghanistan. These vehicles can move freely into and out of the country rather than transhipping cargo at the border, explained Allseas.

"As military forces move out of Afghanistan, it is so important that the transport corridors they have used are maintained and protected for commercial use. These corridors will be vital for the infrastructure and rebuild effort that will drive the commercial element forward," explained Allseas' business development manager, Carl Clark.

In the UK, Allseas has relocated to a new state-of-the-art office in Bingham following the company's rapid growth in recent years. "We are expanding in response to increasing demand for our services, and to ensure we have room for further expansion," says branch manager Darren Sorsby.

Allseas has been particularly busy, even throughout the recession, in the oil & gas sector but it is also reporting steadily rising demand for export services from the UK manufacturing sector, as well as other industry sectors.

"We are doing a huge amount for UK manufacturing - for example, we recently moved a GBP9 million production line from the UK to Pakistan," says Sorsby. "It is great to see other countries recognising and investing in the UK's engineering projects and skills and we are proud to be supporting that."

Allseas is also supporting the 999 Round Britain Coastal Challenge. Watersafe UK Search & Rescue Team (WUKSART) will be attempting to circumnavigate the entire coastline of Britain in a rigid inflatable boat, sponsored by Allseas, to raise funds for WUKSART and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI). Those involved aim to circumnavigate 1,999 miles of British coastline in just 9 days, 9 hours and 9 minutes.

The target for this great cause is GBP50,000 and you can show your support by donating through the team's Just Giving page.
