Altius kick starts refinery move

September 18 - Altius has coordinated the first shipment of refinery equipment from Italy's Porto Marghera for the Jazan refinery and terminal project in Saudi Arabia.

Altius was awarded a contract for the transportation of around 31,000 freight tonnes of cargo for the refinery and industrial area, which is based in southwest Saudi Arabia near the Red Sea coast. The cargo is being delivered mainly from Italy and Spain, as well as elsewhere in Europe.

The first shipment included two 152-tonne pressure vessels, two 62-tonne heat exchangers, and auxiliary accessories, all of which was loaded onboard a geared vessel in Porto Marghera.

The vessel sailed first to the Italian port of Bari, where it loaded an extra 14 pumps, before sailing to the Saudi Arabian port of Jizan for discharge and oncarriage to the refinery site.
