September 13 - International oil and gas services company ASCO has been awarded a three-year USD100 million contract to provide supply base services to BG in Tanzania.

The contract will be operated out of the port of Mtwara and will employ in the region of 100 local staff.
 
As a result of the award ASCO will work with a number of partners in the East African country including BG, Statoil, Petrobas and Ophir. The four operators are currently engaged in deepwater exploration activity offshore Tanzania.
 
ASCO will deliver shore-based services that include warehousing, vessel loading and discharging, pipeyard storage, provision of bulk chemicals and facilities management services.
 
"This is a fabulous contract award for us. It gives ASCO a firm foothold in East Africa," said ASCO ceo for the Middle East and Africa, Euan Lockhart.
