Auerbach Schifffahrt reports that its first newbuild has hit the water in Taizhou, an F500 multipurpose vessel.
Equipped with two 250-tonne capacity cranes, the 12,500 dwt multipurpose vessel Sophie has been ice class 1A certified. It features an extended deck area with flush space of 1,480 sq m, a box-shaped cargo hold which measures 76 m x 17.6 m with height adjustable tweendecks, as well as a special hold for classified IMO cargoes (up to Class 9) such as radioactive substances.
The vessel was designed by Auerbach Schifffahrt, Krey Schiffahrts and Schulte Marine Concept. Taizhou Sanfu Shipyard has been on hand throughout to ensure the vessel was launched on time.
Sophie, the first of eight newbuilds to come for Auerbach, is to join the company’s fleet later this year.
