February 20 - BDP International has opened an office in Lima, Peru, supporting the logistics and transportation company's efforts to grow its Latin American presence.

BDP's Lima office will offer chemical, petroleum, mining, energy, and retail customers with ocean and air export and import services, Customs clearance, project logistics, ground transport as well as warehousing and distribution services.

According to BDP, Peru has achieved a growth rate of 6.4 percent per year in the last decade, and has signed Free Trade Agreements with 53 countries, including Canada, Chile, China, the EU, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and the USA.

Annually, Peru's largest port - Callao - handles more than 1.9 million teu and Lima Airport moves approximately 300,000 tons (272,155.4 tonnes) of air cargo, claims BDP.

Hector Midolo, BDP's managing director, Latin America, said: "Historically, Latin America has always been a crucial hub for international trade, and with the expansion of the Panama Canal and increase in nearshoring, growth rates will only continue to flourish," adding that BDP must grow with its customers.
