December 29 - Fairstar Heavy Transport has completed the transport and discharge of modules carried by its semi-submersible vessel, Fjord, for the Escravos Gas-to-Liquids (EGTL) plant in Escravos, Nigeria which is being developed by Chevron Nigeria and th

Fjord sailed immediately to Lobito in Angola to load a number of FPSO topside components for Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co Ltd (DSME) which are being carried to shipbuilder's facility in Okpo, South Korea, with arrival scheduled for early February 2010.

Meanwhile, Fairstar's second semi-submersible vessel, Fjell has recently discharged a floating crane and two hopper barges in Dubai for the China Communications Construction Company and its agent, Zhenhua Logistics.

After loading a jacket and various structural elements, Fjell will depart for its destination of the Suez Cana and arrive in the Halfdan Field mid April of 2010. Fairstar will also work closely with the offshore installation team of the Heerema Crane Barge, Thialf.

Dave Hangoor, manager of operations for Fairstar commented: "Fairstar is looking forward to a new series of complex transportation assignments. Fjord and Fjell will be well employed in the first quarter of 2010. Our work in Nigeria was a valuable learning experience.

"We are confident that Fjord and Fjell have a strong competitive advantage in this niche and we will be working hard to maintain our leadership in this area of offshore heavy transport."
