Offshore installation contractor Cadeler has agreed to acquire Boqiang 3060, a newly built jack-up wind turbine installation vessel from Shanghai Boqiang Heavy Industry Group.
The vessel, which will be renamed Wind Keeper, enhances Cadeler’s operational capacity as the company responds to surging global demand for offshore wind turbine operations and maintenance (O&M) services. It features a 2,200-tonne Huisman main crane, Kongsberg DP2 dynamic positioning system and 120 m-long jack-up legs.
Cadeler expects to take delivery of Wind Keeper in Q3 2025 and while already outfitted to a high standard, the company plans to invest in select upgrades to align the vessel with the rest of its fleet and expand its capability to support next-generation 15 MW turbine installations.
This transaction comes on the heels of Cadeler’s recent Q1 2025 earnings update; the company reported a strong start to the year driven by high fleet utilisation and strategic expansion. For the first three months of 2025, Cadeler reported revenue of EUR65 million (USD73.4 million), an increase of EUR46 million (USD52 million) compared to EUR19 million (USD21.5 million) in the same period of 2024.
In the first quarter, the company’s fleet was also bolstered by the delivery of two jack-up wind turbine installation vessels: Wind Maker, which has begun work at the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms in Taiwan, and Wind Pace. The latter will soon be deployed at an offshore wind farm project in the USA.
In February, Cadeler signed two contracts for the use of the newbuild vessel Wind Mover.
