Chinese-Polish shipping firm Chipolbrok has launched Kopernik, the eighth and final vessel in its 62,000 dwt multipurpose newbuilding series.

Built by China’s Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding, Kopernik measures approximately 199.9 m x 32.26 m. With a bale space of 75,000 cu m and a deckspace of 3,900 sq m, the vessel is equipped with two 150-tonne cranes capable of tandem lifts of up to 300 tonnes, plus two 80-tonne cranes.
Named after Nicolaus Copernicus, a Polish observational astronomer, Chipolbrok will primarily deploy the vessel in support of the wind energy and infrastructure sectors, as well as other heavy and out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo.
HLPFI reported in November that Kopernik’s sister vessel, De An, had completed its maiden voyage. Last month, the company revealed that it had signed a contract for six new-generation 60,800 dwt multipurpose heavy lift vessels. The next newbuilds scheduled for the carrier are four 38,000 dwt MPP units.
