February 5 - Luxembourg all-cargo airline Cargolux has added three new destinations to its freighter network: Xiamen, China; Latacunga, Ecuador; and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. B747-8 freighters will serve the three destinations.

February 1 saw Xiamen welcome its first ever B747-8 freighter service from Beijing. On February 3, Cargolux performed its inaugural B747-8F service to South America by starting services to Latacunga. The return flight touched down in Aguadilla - another first for the carrier.

70 Cargolux destinations are now cleared for B747-8F operations and according to the carrier, Vietnam is expected to approve its airports in the near future. On the other hand, Brazil remains one of the last countries in the Cargolux network that has not certified its airports for the B747-8F aircraft. Cargolux will continue to serve South America's largest economy with B747-400 equipment.
