UK-based heavy haulier Collett & Sons has opened a power distribution warehouse in Sherburn in Elmet, North Yorkshire, that will house Wilson Power Solutions’ transformers.
The 2,735 sq m facility adds to Collett’s existing 48,500 sq m storage portfolio across Halifax, Elland, Bradford, Goole and Grangemouth, and represents the company’s continued investment in specialist heavy lift warehousing.
Operated in close partnership with Wilson, the facility supports the storage and movement of power distribution transformers and other specialist equipment. It features overhead gantry cranes, with lifting capacities ranging from 5-20 tonnes; a 5 m hook-to-floor height clearance suitable for oversized cargo; connectivity to the A1 Motorway, providing access to major transport links; CCTV monitoring to ensure safety and security; and a sustainable design incorporating eco-friendly technologies.
Collett said that it manages daily transport operations between Wilson’s main facility and the Sherburn warehouse, alongside a range of wider heavy lift and specialist transport services. Mick Harland, sales director at Collett, said: “The warehouse acquisition is another example of Collett’s ongoing investment to support our growth. It also allows us to better support our valued customer, Wilson Power Solutions, by providing fully coordinated transport and storage solutions.”
HLPFI reported earlier this week that Collett delivered and installed three transformers at the New Cumnock Substation in East Ayrshire, Scotland.
