Dako powers plant transport

January 17 - Dusseldorf, Germany headquartered Dako Worldwide has transported a new power plant from a factory in Germany via the US Gulf to Whitecourt in central Alberta, Canada.

The plant consisted of ten 150-tonne generator sets, which were shipped in two lots on heavy lift vessels from the German Baltic port of Rostock to Houston, USA.

At Houston, Dako organised the direct delivery of the generator sets onto heavy duty railcars, which were then transported by rail to a location near to the new power plant in Alberta.

The generator sets were unloaded from the railcars using a tower lift system and loaded onto a multi-axle hydraulic trailer for the final transport to the plant, where the generator sets were offloaded using a jacking and sliding system and transferred into their final position in the power house.

The power plant is expected to provide electric power for a big paper and pulp mill in Whitecourt, Canada.
