DEME Offshore has installed the first turbine at the SeaMade offshore wind farm, located 45 km off the Belgian coast.

Construction of the wind farm began in September 2019. Installation of the foundations was completed during January 2020 using DEME’s offshore installation vessel Innovation, as HLFPI reported here.

DEME’s vessel Apollo will now install 58 Siemens Gamesa 8.4 MW turbines on the monopile foundations. The components, including the tower sections, nacelles and blades, will be loaded onboard Apollo at the Renewable Energy Base in Ostend (REBO), Belgium, and transported to the SeaMade site in the Belgian North Sea.

SeaMade is due to be operational by the end of 2020 with a capacity of 487 MW.
