Project forwarder deugro has added a straddle carrier to its Cedar-Port Operations and Logistics Terminal (COLT) in Baytown, Texas.

The straddle carrier is engineered to lift, shift and transport a variety of container types and smaller breakbulk items weighing up to 95,000 lbs (43.1 tonnes) at the company’s 50 acre (20.2 ha) facility, which is located at the Cedar Port Industrial Park.
deugro said that the machine’s capabilities were specifically adapted and optimised for use at its terminal, with dteq Transport Engineering Solutions developing an upgraded tailor-made design.
Franklin Alvarez, regional director, transport engineering Americas at dteq, explained: “dteq supported the initial design phase by tailoring it to the specific needs required to meet all current cargo handling requirements at COLT. In addition, dteq provided design adjustments for the tailor-made spreader/lift beam to maximise the straddle carrier’s usability for the future loads and applications it will need to handle at COLT.”
Ryan Blewett, vice president, strategy and development for deugro in North America, added: “This investment reinforces deugro’s position as a leading project terminal and warehouse provider in Texas.”
deugro added the facility in last year, becoming its second warehouse in Baytown.
