February 5 - Felbermayr has transported eight heavy loads for a new aluminium factory for Austrian aluminium producer, AMAG in Ranshofen.

The cargo was transported from Rotterdam via the Rhein-Main-Danube canal to Felbermayr's heavy goods harbour in Linz by Haeger & Schmidt, Felbermayr's sister company.

Due to the weight of the load - 200 tonnes - the cargo was then transported on two 20-axle low loaders and delivered in convoy.

During transportation, a 100 m long bridge had to be crossed, which required the cargo to be pulled sideways by two pulling machines in order to distribute the weight more evenly.

Due to a combined weight of 305 tonnes, another bridge en route was unable to be crossed, so Felbermayr had to avoid the bridge and transport the loads down the wrong side of the motorway, which required it to be closed for three hours.

Two further convoys of the heavy loads, which will be used for a hot rolling mill, followed this first delivery.
