March 26 - Air Charter Service's (ACS) New York office recently chartered an AN-225 aircraft to freight equipment and components destined for a natural gas plant in Nigeria.

Richard Thompson, cargo sales director of ACS New York, explained: "The combination of the size of the separate pieces of cargo and the total weight meant that the AN-225 was the logical choice for the charter, but the loading still took meticulous planning, due to the size and shape of the cargo. Special supportive loading equipment was used to transfer the large components onto the aircraft."

He added "The parts had to be in Nigeria to meet a specific timeline, whilst the rest of the large shipment went via ocean freight."
