October 25 - Leer based Hartmann Group and Papenburg headquartered Schulte & Bruns have agreed to expand their cooperation in shortsea shipping activities, with both parties taking a 50 percent share in Schulte & Bruns Chartering.

Group subsidiary Schulte & Bruns Chartering operates the fleet of ships owned and controlled by Schulte & Bruns, via its offices in Hamburg, Heerenveen, Newcastle and Papenburg.

As part of the agreement, Schulte & Bruns Chartering will now also commercially manage a large part of Hartmann Group's multipurpose ships, ranging in size from 5,000 to 17,000 dwt.

Hartmann Group will take over the nautical and technical management - including crewing - of the Schulte & Bruns ships through its subsidiary, Hartmann Dry Cargo Germany.

In a statement, the companies said that they expect the cooperation, which becomes effective on January 1, 2017, to strengthen their respective market potential.
