September 19 - The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has appointed Ed McCarthy as its new chief operating officer.

McCarthy (pictured) joins GPA from CMA CGM America, where he served as chief operating officer and was previously senior vice president of operations.

He has also held roles at Sealand Services, APM Terminals and Virginia International Terminals.

In his new role, McCarthy will be responsible for growing and developing a number of the US port authority's services, including its breakbulk and bulk operations.
