February 3 - With effect from this month, Grieg Star is adding a number of Swedish port calls to its Atlantic service to and from the US East Coast, US Gulf and Altamira, Mexico.

Monthly calls at the Swedish ports of Uddevalla, Karlshamn and Oskarshamn will be introduced.

"This service enhancement strengthens Grieg Star's presence in the Baltic," said Grieg Star's commercial director in Gothenburg, Gerrit Hartmann.

"After the successful introduction of regular monthly calls to Poland (Gdynia) three years ago, we are now looking forward to introduce our unique product and direct service to Swedish and other Scandinavian shippers of project and breakbulk cargo," he added.

In addition to the new Swedish ports, Grieg Star said that it would also consider making inducement calls at ports in the Baltic area, such as in Denmark or Germany.

Back in 2015, Grieg Star confirmed that it had entered into a long term agreement with F.H. Bertling for two of the shipowner's 51,000 dwt open hatch box shaped vessels, Navarra and Dalmatia.

"We both see a lot of potential synergies between our two groups, and are looking forward to starting a closer relationship," said Bertling ceo Rolf Petersen and Grieg Star ceo Tom Rasmussen.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery into Grieg Star's open hatch fleet in early 2016.
