July 29 - Fairmount Marine has confirmed that the Gavea Lifter, which it owns and operates, has left Rio de Janeiro after three years on charter where she had been used to drydock drill ships, semi-submersible drilling rigs and jack-up rigs.
Fairmount Marine says that Gavea Lifter is the largest semi-submersible barge in the world and perfectly suited for drydock operations in remote areas where no suitable dock is available, as well as for the transportation of heavy cargoes.
Currently, Fairmount Expedition is towing Gavea Lifter to South Africa from where she will be available for employment worldwide.
