January 7 - It was an impressive end of year performance in Le Havre as a 377-tonne EDF transformer was transported by sea barge through the European inland waterway system from the Porcheville thermal power plant to Germany then France and back to German

After being loaded in the port of Limay, the over-dimensional cargo was conveyed by pusher unit and inland waterway to Le Havre.

From there, the barge was taken by tug to the port of Rotterdam, and then continued by barge to Nuremberg, its final destination.

The operation, which for EDF represents the largest convoy ever sent by waterway, illustrates the efficiency and performance of river logistics solutions offered by HAROPA to optimise the transport of over-dimensional cargoes.
