Locomotive load for GPLN member

January 16 - International Project Logistics, based in Brisbane, Australia, has handled the movement of 24 locomotives from Brisbane to Durban, South Africa for reuse on the African continent.

Two of the locomotives arrived in Brisbane from New Zealand as ro-ro cargo on the multipurpose vessel Tarago, before being transshipped onto the specially chartered BBC Carolina for the voyage to Durban.

One electric locomotive arrived at the port by rail, while another 60-tonne diesel locomotive was transported by road from a location 600 km north of Brisbane.

The remaining 20 locomotives - twelve 95-tonne types and eight 60-tonne types - arrived by road from rail freight company Aurizon's workshops in Redban, which required the use of seven trucks and took three days.

International Project Logistics is a member of the Global Project Logistics Network (GPLN).
