M-Star shines in Russia

December 14 - M-Star Freight Services has coordinated the transport of heavy and over-dimensional cargoes for a petrochemical plant in Russia.

The cargoes were moved from Bucharest in Romania to Kstovo in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region. "The road conditions were extremely bad at the destination … the local roads were repaired and extended - all managed by M-Star and our local partners," said the company's business development manager, Jan Euwema.

The consignment included a pre-demethaniser column weighing 99 tonnes and measuring 33 m x 3.9 m x 3.9 m.

M-Star was tasked with road transport to the port of Constanta; port handling and export Customs clearance; lashing and securing; marine surveying; as well as chartering a sea-river vessel via the Black Sea and Volga River.

M-Star also negotiated the canal system to Nizhny Novgorod as well as import Customs clearance formalities. It then organised transhipment of the consignment on to a ro-ro river barge for onward delivery to a jetty near the final project site. Delivery to site was accomplished using specialised trailers.

M-Star is a member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN) representing the Netherlands and Georgia.
