Germany’s MACS Maritime Carrier Shipping and Hugo Stinnes are merging their operations under a single brand.
The sister companies, both owned by Vineta, will combine under the MACS Maritime Carrier name. Together, the transatlantic specialist will operate a fleet of more than 15 vessels serving over 20 ports across 16 countries.
“This merger brings together two highly respected organisations with shared values, a strong commitment to safety and sustainability, and a clear vision for the future,” said Dietrich Scheder-Bieschin, managing director of MACS.
MACS will become the universal successor to Hugo Stinnes, with all contracts, rights, liabilities and obligations transferring automatically. Hugo Stinnes’ Rostock headquarters will close by December 31, 2025, with employees relocating to the joint Hamburg office from January 1, 2026.
The SANMEX multipurpose service between North Europe and Mexico/US Gulf will be rebranded as the Stinnes service, preserving the 200-year-old name.
