German multipurpose operators MACS Maritime Carrier Shipping and Hugo Stinnes, both owned by Vineta, will form a joint agency brand to represent their activities in the Spanish market.

MACS and Hugo Stinnes team up in Spain

Based in Bilbao, and in cooperation with former Hugo Stinnes-representative Noatum Maritime Spain, the joint agency will operate as Stinnes & MACS Agencia Marítima. It will take over all marketing, sales and port operation activities for the multipurpose liner services that the two shipping companies offer in Spain.

These services include the HSS SANMEX MPP service from Spain and Portugal to Mexico and the US Gulf and vice versa, and the MACS service from Spain (excluding Galicia) to and from Southern Africa.

For MACS, the Galician region remains under the agency of Comarsa. Vigo and Portugal will be represented by MACS’s own agency MCPAS, with offices in Leixoes and Lisbon.

As a result of Stinnes & MACS Agencia Marítima’s establishment, MACS will end its agency agreement with Vasco Catalana, which has been in place since 1983.
