Mega pump for Fukushima reactor

March 28 - Local media report that the Shanghai International Ferry Co Ltd has shipped a giant pumping device to Japan for cooling the troubled reactor in Fukushima nuclear power plant.

HLPFI understands that the transport was undertaken without cost as a donation to Japan.

The pump, which is 15.5 m long and 4.2 m high, has a 62 m arm and weighs 53.5 tonnes. It was donated by China's heavy machinery manufacturer Sany Group.
