MFC turns up the heat

March 3 - India's MFC Transport Pvt Ltd has handled the transportation of two air heat exchangers from Walchandnagar Industries to the BHAVINI atomic power plant in Kalpakkam in Tamil Nadu, India, on behalf of Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL).

The exchangers, each of which weighed 125 tonnes and had the dimensions 14.1 m x 6.8 m x 6.7 m, were transported a distance of 1,732 km covering 17 Indian districts and passing through some difficult terrains.

Earlier in February, MFC also transported a 220-tonne transformer, which had the dimensions 8.1 m x 5.1 m 5.1 m, over 1,200 km from the power grid project at Lucknow in north India to Haldia port in the east of India, where it was shipped to Korea for repairs and returned once completed.

The road transportation was executed using a specially designed Goldhofer low profile deck with six axle lines on each end.
