Skarv Shipping Solutions, a joint venture between Peak Group and Grieg Edge, has launched its first vessel, named Peak Skarv 1.
The shortsea general cargo ship is the first newbuilding contracted for Skarv at Huanghai Shipbuilding in Weihai, China, and is scheduled for delivery in early January 2026. Measuring 108.2 m x 18.1 m, Peak Skarv 1 has a deadweight of 7,800 tonnes, along with a 6,550-tonne cargo capacity and a cargo deck area of 1,600 sq m.
Skarv said the vessel will contribute to more sustainable cargo operations by offering significantly lower CO2 emissions compared to similar vessels on the market presently.
The following two ships in this series will be launched within the next 45 days, with four vessels of this kind to be delivered altogether. Peak Group and Grieg Star will provide ship management services on behalf of Skarv.
Skarv also has a fifth vessel on order, which is a dual fuel ammonia vessel from Arriva Shipping. This is scheduled for delivery during 2027.
