June 9 - From June 13, the south gate entrance to Port Manatee in the USA will close for about 12 weeks while a construction project advances enhancements to security and traffic flow, with all traffic being routed through the port's north gate complex.

The USD1 million modernisation project is funded primarily through a federal port security grant and is scheduled for completion by September 1.

David St. Pierre, Port Manatee's director of seaport security, added: "The improvements will significantly bolster security while further promoting safe, efficient movement of cargo, including oversize project pieces."
