Project Cargo Network celebrates first birthday

August 3 - The Project Cargo Network (PCN), the fast growing association for heavy and OOG forwarders, is celebrating its first birthday today

PCN founder current chairwoman says that the idea of establishing PCN was brought to her last summer by a heavy lift agent who suggested she use her experience and online resources (having already established the general cargo network, Universal Freight Organisation) to fill what they felt was a gap in the industry. She says: "It was only after they approached me that I looked into and established Project Cargo Network (PCN)."

"And I am very happy that I did! I am tremendously proud of how fast and how strong our network has grown over the past 12 months, with membership now standing at 91 members in 53 countries and still growing. This is a wonderful milestone; to have extended our global representation to so many countries.

"We have been careful to only recruit agents who have proven expertise and experience in handling full blown project cargo/heavy lift shipments, restricting membership to three members per country (five in the USA, Brazil, Australia, Canada, India and China

To ensure that PCN has recruited the right companies in each country, Humphrey says: "An annual Quality Control Survey provides us with a helpful snapshot of how companies are performing within our network. The next survey will be sent out in January 2012 and will be particularly important as it will give members the chance to express their views on their fellow overseas partners for the first time."
