January 24 - Robert Wynn & Sons has handled the shipment of six 170-tonne electricity transformers on its inland barge, the Inland Navigator, to the Drax power station in North Yorkshire.

Robert Wynn worked together with Collett Transport to carry out six separate successive shipments to the power plant.

The transformers were loaded in Hull and delivered to the power station berth on the River Ouse - the first time the berth had been used to transship heavy and abnormal loads for over 20 years.

"These loads have been delivered without impact on the travelling public and demonstrated well the benefit of using the inland waterways for the carriage of the largest and heaviest abnormal indivisible loads," said David Trigg, project manager at Robert Wynn.
