Silk Way West Airlines has signed an agreement with Airbus for two additional A350F freighters, bringing its total order for this model to four.
The A350F can carry a payload of up to 111 tonnes and covers a range of up to 8,700 km. It also boasts a reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions of up to 40 percent when compared to previous generation aircraft with a similar payload-range capability.
The company is also strengthening its landside infrastructure. HLPFI reported on November 14 that Silk Way Group would develop a new cargo airport in the Alat Free Economic Zone, Azerbaijan. The airport will operate as Silk Way Alat Free Economic Zone Company. The airport will have 18 aircraft stands and a 4,000 m runway. It is set for completion in 2026.
