August 9 - The Steder Group has established a local presence in the South East Asian market with the opening of Steder Singapore.

The Steder Group says the opening is "a natural expansion" of its existing office network, and considers Singapore, as South East Asia's maritime and logistics epicentre, to be the logical choice as its base of operation.

Dirk Ghys, who has over 30 years of experience in the maritime and logistics industries, will manage and coordinate Steder's Asian activities.

Steder Singapore will initially focus on port services, including port agency and ship's spares logistics, chartering and brokerage activities, and project logistics.

The group will actively promote its heavy cargo logistics capabilities in East Africa for businesses and cargo originating from South East Asia (and the Far East) through its existing operation in Djibouti.

Additional services will be added at a later stage.
